Inner City Scaffolding Supports Phase 2 of the Iconic Television Centre Redevelopment

Inner City Scaffolding Supports Phase 2 of the Iconic Television Centre Redevelopment

Inner City Scaffolding is proud to announce our involvement in Phase 2 of the Television Centre redevelopment, supporting our valued client, Lyons & Annoot, with a fully engineered, HAKI Universal splayed scaffolding and access package. With Multiplex appointed as Principal Contractor for this next phase of the landmark scheme, our team is delivering a solution that brings together precision engineering, adaptability, and deep project knowledge – right tool, right job!

Once the home of the BBC, Television Centre remains one of London’s most recognisable buildings. Its transformation into a vibrant residential and leisure destination has been progressing in stages, with Phase 2 expanding the development’s high-quality living and amenity offering. Inner City Scaffolding’s work forms a crucial part of enabling our client’s brickwork and façades delivery programme for Multiplex.

Engineered for Complex Geometry

Phase 2 involves significant work around the building’s unique curved structure, which is a defining feature of Television Centre. To meet these challenges, we are deploying a HAKI system‑based scaffolding package engineered specifically for the project’s architectural and structural constraints.

Our technical design includes:

1. Precision Splay Scaffolding

The curved façade requires bespoke splay design to allow the scaffold to wrap seamlessly around both the front and rear elevations. By shaping the scaffold to the building using our system knowledge and stockpile, we deliver a practical, more accessible, and more efficient access solution.

2. Specialist Mechanical Tie Design

The curvature and fabric of the structure demand an enhanced fixing methodology. Our engineers have developed a dual system of mechanical ties suited to the geometry of both elevations, ensuring secure anchoring while maintaining structural integrity throughout the build.

3. A Fully Agile, Phase-Responsive Solution

As our client’s brickwork façade progresses through various stages of its construction programme, the scaffold will be adapted, relocated, and reconfigured in line with the project’s evolving needs. This system-derived agility allows the programme to move forward efficiently while enabling safe work at height across the development.

Leadership Built on Experience

The works are led by Riki Spencer (Contracts Manager), whose proven ability to deliver technically challenging system-derived access solutions ensures the project is managed with precision and confidence. Supporting Riki is our Managing Director, Ben Ramsey, and together they bring invaluable continuity to Phase 2, having both played key roles in the successful delivery of the Phase 1 scaffolding works at the Television Centre.

This combination of experience, technical competency, and practical site understanding allows Inner City Scaffolding to deliver with confidence on a project of such scale and mixed contractor interface.

Supporting the Next Chapter of a London Landmark

Our involvement in the redevelopment of Television Centre demonstrates Inner City Scaffolding’s capability to deliver high‑performance, engineered access solutions for complex, architecturally challenging projects supported by tier‑one contractors. We are proud to be working on Television Centre Phase 2 as this iconic London landmark enters the next stage of its transformation.
