St Bartholomews Hospital, Rochester

Inner City Scaffolding are delighted to have been appointed as the Scaffolding Contractor for the refurbishment of St Bartholomews Hospital Rochester.

This famous hospital was Britain’s oldest surviving hospital. It provided specialist rehabilitation for stroke patients until services were transferred to Medway Maritime Hospital. It was founded in 1078 by Gundulph, Bishop of Rochester as a hospital for lepers.

The building is being redeveloped to create 155 homes, ranging from one-bedroom and two bedrooms to three-bedroom houses at the location in New Road overlooking the River Medway and Victoria Gardens.

Of these, most will conversions in the main block and the remainder new build. The houses would be at the back in a separate Mews Quarter which will include a garden and
south-facing terrace.

The redevelopment will be fully sensitive to the historic nature of the site.
